We want to give you a positive and safe job search experience. Unfortunately, scammers sometimes impersonate real companies – including ours – to trick job seekers into handing over money or personal information. This page explains how our hiring process actually works, the warning signs of a scam, and what to do if you think you’ve been targeted.
How we hire
Understanding our hiring process is a good defense against a fake one.
- There is no placement, processing, or hiring fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
- All official job openings are posted on this Capital One PH Careers portal and select verified job boards such as Jobstreet and LinkedIn. We do not recruit exclusively through Telegram, Whatsapp, or personal social media messages.
- Interviews are conducted either by phone, video call, or in person by identified members of our talent acquisition team.
- Normal job offers are always issued in writing, on company letterhead or via our official HR systems, after a documented interview process. We don’t extend offers by text message alone.
- Our recruiters use company email addresses only. We don’t conduct official business through personal email addresses (Gmail, Yahoomail, Outlook, etc).
- Unauthorized Recruitment: Only official Capital One channels are authorized to process applications. We do not authorize independent individuals - associates or otherwise - to recruit on our behalf. Capital One Philippines is not responsible for any personal data shared with or financial transactions conducted through unauthorized third parties.
Common warning signs of a scam
Be cautious if you encounter any of the following:
- You’re offered a job without an interview, or after an unusually short or informal one.
- You’re asked to pay money upfront for ‘priority application’ processing, equipment, training materials, or administrative fees.
- You’re asked for sensitive personal or financial information early, such as bank account details, copies of ID, online banking credentials, before any formal offer.
- The pay is unusually high for a certain job position, or the role is vaguely described.
- Communication happens only through chat apps or personal numbers, with pressure to respond quickly or keep the opportunity confidential.
- The email domain doesn’t match our official website, or contains slight misspellings (for example, extra letters, hyphens, or a different domain ending). Note that our official email address format is FirstName.LastName@capitalone.com.
- You’re asked to cash a check and send part of it back as a ‘deposit’ or ‘refund’.
- The “recruiter” pressures you to make a decision immediately or discourages you from verifying the opportunity through our official Capital One Philippines channels.
