As the eldest among four children, JM Binasoy felt a strong sense of responsibility to support himself and his family from a young age. While he had already gained diverse work experience in manufacturing, logistics, and the hospitality industry, he wanted to strive for a better career and future.
When JM witnessed his brother become part of the Contact Center Readiness Program (CCRP) at Tuloy Foundation and join Capital One Philippines, he decided to follow the same path in 2018.
JM is just one of 1.7 million Filipinos whose careers are built within the thriving IT-BPM industry. A cornerstone of the Philippine economy, this sector closed 2024 with remarkable milestones: 1.82 million jobs and USD 38 billion in revenue, according to the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).
To sustain this growth and maintain its global competitiveness, the industry has identified crucial gaps in the workforce given the evolving skills and demands of the global market. Capital One Philippines developed the Contact Center Readiness Program (CCRP) to help bridge the talent gap for underprivileged communities.
Investing in Filipino talent
By investing in Filipino talent, CCRP is opening powerful pathways to build an inclusive workforce, and JM's journey stands as a prime example of this successful model in action.
Batch 16 students of CCRP pose for the camera, commemorating the culmination of their classroom training journey while getting ready for their on-the-job training at C1PH.
CCRP is designed to teach students key competencies for entry-level positions in IT-BPM and other service industries through five months of intensive classroom training and four months of on-the-job training at Capital One Philippines.
After completing the program, graduates can apply at Capital One Philippines, giving them the opportunity to provide for their families and fulfill their dreams.
Now in its 10th year, CCRP has produced a total of 154 graduates with 98% hired by different IT-BPM companies. Out of the 96 graduates hired by Capital One Philippines, 16 were eventually promoted over the years. JM, who was hired in 2018 for one, took on different roles within the organization which deepened his knowledge and expertise and led to his promotion as unit manager in 2023.
“I remember what one of my mentors said, ‘If there's an opening, you should go for it. It means that the company needs someone like you.’ This is my way of giving back to Capital One. I will continue sharing my talent and skills and be an inspiration for others to chase the life they've imagined,” JM said.
“Capital One Philippines has consistently promoted excellence, doing the right thing, and investing for good. With CCRP, we are not just building a stronger organization, but actively shaping a more equitable and prosperous future for Filipinos in the IT-BPM industry,” said Capital One Philippines Head of Country Raoul Teh.
Capital One Philippines Manager for Community Impact & Investment, Julie Larano, added,“Capital One Philippines is determined to support the communities by contributing resources and fostering community development. One of our goals is to uplift Filipino youth–especially the underprivileged ones–and prepare them for the future of work. One of the ways we are making this happen is through CCRP.”
Inspired by JM's journey from a keen aspirant to a unit manager, along with many other success stories of CCRP alumni, Capital One Philippines remains committed to building careers, empowering families, and nurturing a more inclusive and prosperous future for the Filipino community.
